On-going Projects: New York City, 2026:
During a walk through my neighborhood, I met a man named Gary who had brought his birds outside to his front yard for fresh air. I introduced myself and asked if he often brought them outside. He mentioned that he does so when the weather is nice, but that they are kept indoors otherwise.
I offered to photograph him in front of his home in Bedford-Stuyvesant. When I returned with my camera equipment, I noticed that the police had arrived in response to a neighbor’s complaint alleging that the birds were being mistreated by being kept in cages. I spoke briefly with the officers to explain that I was there to photograph Gary. After assessing the situation, no further action was taken and they left.
What an unexpected neighborhood encounter.
In the Financial District, there’s a quiet rhythm to the older storefronts - layers of history, texture, and personality that continue to hold their ground in a rapidly changing city.
This first series features Designer Promise @designerpromise, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau. The mannequins and window displays feel unmistakably New York: confident, expressive, and slightly theatrical in their presence.
I photographed the store a couple of weeks ago and wanted to share a glimpse of what caught my eye. This is part of an ongoing series in FiDi, 2026.
After lunch at Kuu, I photographed Optima Beauty Supply @optimabeautysupply located next door. I was immediately drawn to the density of the space and the richness of its visual content. The exterior displays are styled by Barry, who works in the back of the store, where rows of wigs are stacked with and layered throughout the space.
These images are part of an ongoing project I’ve been developing around storefronts in FiDi, and their visual language.
